Princess Charlotte paid tribute to her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, at this year’s Trooping the Colour ceremony.
On June 14, Prince William and Kate Middleton's daughter arrived at the ceremony in a horse-drawn carriage, seated next to her mom and opposite from her brothers, Prince Louis and Prince George.
Princess Charlotte, 10, matched with her mom in an aqua dress, but it was her brooch that delivered a special message.
The young Princess wore a diamond horseshoe brooch, which she had previously worn at Queen Elizabeth's funeral in September 2022. The brooch was a gift from the late monarch and previously belonged to her mom, the Queen Mother.
The elegant piece of jewelry honored the late Queen’s love of horses. Charlotte seems to have inherited the quality. It was previously revealed that she was taking riding lessons and is passionate about the animals and equestrian sport.
Love of horses runs in the British royal family. Queen Elizabeth's daughter, Princess Anne, and granddaughter, Zara Tindall, took their interest seriously and competed in equestrian events in the Olympics.
The late monarch reportedly had a special bond with Charlotte. In ITV's 2016 documentary The Queen at Ninety, Princess Kate revealed, “The Queen was really thrilled that it was a little girl, and I think as soon as we came back here to Kensington, she was one of our first visitors here.”
