Fact-check: Viral video claiming to show kiss in a drama is fake, created with AI

An actual scene from drama was digitally altered using AI to show two young actors kissing

Social media users appear to believe that young Pakistani actors Samar Jafri and Aina Asif were seen kissing in an episode of a television series in which they appear as the lead characters.

The claim, however, is false, as the video has been digitally manipulated using publicly available artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

Claim

On May 27, a YouTube channel posted a video claiming to show Jafri kissing his co-star Asif in a scene from the drama serial.

At the time of writing, the video had received over 540,000 views and more than 10,000 likes.

The same video was also shared on various other accounts with the caption mentioning "romantic scene" with the drama's name.

Fact

The video is fabricated. An actual scene from the series was digitally altered to make it appear that the two young actors were exchanging a kiss.

Geo Fact Check conducted a reverse image and keyword search to verify the footage. The original clip was identified as part of Episode 15 of the serial currently on-air on a private television channel.

A thorough review of the full episode found no such scene. The moment falsely presented in the viral video can be found in its original, unaltered form at the 26:05 timestamp in Episode 15, available on the show’s official YouTube channel.

Verdict: The claim is false. The video has been altered using AI tools and does not depict any real romantic scene between the lead actors.
