David Beckham is officially selected to be awarded knighthood in monarch's birthday honours this year.

After years of speculations and previous snubs, the retired soccer player and captain has formally been named to receive a knighthood in King Charles III's birthday honours list.

The honour recognises Beckham's iconic sporting career and his lasting contributions to British society.

The honour will see the soccer legend addressed as "Sir David Beckham," while his designer wife Victoria Beckham will receive the courtesy title "Lady Beckham." The official investiture ceremony will take place at a later date.

Beckham, now 50, launched his career with a record-breaking stint at Manchester United, winning six Premier League titles over a nine-year tenure.

He was the first English player to reach 100 Champions League appearances and the first to win league titles in four different countries: England, Spain, France and the United States.

He was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2008, and the Premier League Hall of Fame in 2021.

His contributions off the field have also been noteworthy. Beckham was appointed an Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth in 2003. He has also served as an ambassador for UNICEF since 2005 and took on the role of ambassador for the King’s Foundation in 2024.

In 2020, Beckham became part-owner of the MLS club Inter Miami in 2020.
