There is no official word on Big Little Lies for season three, but its creator, David E. Kelley, is hopeful.

“We’re hoping it happens,” the showrunner said at the Gotham TV Awards. “We had a great time doing the first two seasons, and we all want to do it again … I’m hopeful it’ll happen.”

The series features an A-list cast, including Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, Meryl Streep, Zoë Kravitz, and Shailene Woodley.

However, none of them is “under contract” currently. But David said if the third season gets a green light, they’d “need to corral a lot of high-caliber talent and their publicists, but everyone is very committed to it.”

On the other hand, the stars and executive producers Reese and Nicole have previously suggested that work on the idea for season three is in progress.

“I’ve got Laura [Dern] calling me and Zoë [Kravitz] and Shailene [Woodley]."

"They’re all like, ‘Nic said that we’re making Big Little Lies season three?’” Witherspoon told Vanity Fair, to which Nicole replied, “But we are now! We’re moving fast and furious, and Liane [Moriarty] is delivering the book.”
