Buckingham Palace has made a big announcement regarding the new honour for Queen Camilla, who arrived in Canada with King Charles on Monday.
The palace shared a photo of Queen Camilla with the monarch, Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney and the Governor-General to reveal the honour.
The post was shared with caption, “This afternoon, The Queen was sworn in as a member of the Canadian Privy Council.”
It added, “In the presence of The King, the Governor-General and the Prime Minister, The Queen participated in a private ceremony.”
The Privy Council is a group of people who advise the King on issues of importance to Canada.
Earlier, at Rideau Hall, the King and Queen met the Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney and his wife Diana Fox Carney.
Moreover, according to AFP, King Charles is to deliver a historic speech to open Canada´s parliament on Tuesday, with the nation, of which he is head of state.
Prime Minister Mark Carney has said he intends to use the king´s first visit to the British Commonwealth nation since his coronation to highlight Canada´s sovereignty.
"This historic honor matches the weight of our times," Carney said.
It was at the prime minister´s invitation that the 76-year-old monarch, who is battling cancer, traveled to the Canadian capital, accompanied by Queen Camilla.
The so-called "throne speech" will be delivered in the Senate -- a former railway station that has been converted while parliament undergoes major renovations.
The throne speech has only twice before been personally delivered by Canada´s monarch, in 1957 and 1977, both by Charles mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Thousands flocked to the capital on Monday to greet the king and queen on their first day of the brief visit.
